gold news

[Music] I'm Charlotte McLoud with investingnews decom and I'm here today with Georgia Williams our managing editor it is it's day two the end of day two of pdac we made it through another day and we're going to do a quick recap of of what we saw and learned today so we'll start with you but actually you you didn't begin your day here at pdac you're offsite at a benchmark mineral intelligence event so maybe we talk about that and and your highlights there absolutely so I was on a side quest uh

today um it is in conjunction with pdac because I guess Benchmark is just trying to take advantage of having you know the crowd in town so it was a dayong summit all about critical minerals and uh the battery supply chain which was really informative um there was some great speakers Tony power Anglo American CEO for South America was there and one of the quotes that I thought was really fascinating was he talked about how 15% of the world will use 200 kg of copper per person over their life time well the

remainder of the world will only use I think it was like 80 kilograms so it's just really highlighting the disparity um between you know the developed world and the developing world and um sort of really underscored anglo-americans philosophy of improving lives globally so I thought that was really interesting that is yeah that is that is a nice take takeway there and it's good to hear from those big names in the sector so so as I understand from hearing from you they went through quite

a number of different Commodities looking at the Outlook so any any standouts for you oh uh it's been a really hard year for battery materials and Battery minerals um they were saying that the outlook for lithium remains depressed for 2025 but could start to you know look better in 2026 nickel unfortunately is going to have a rough go of it straight till 2035 according to Benchmark um it's just the over Supply from Indonesia is just really saturating the market and you know there isn't as

much end use Demand right now so sad sad times for nickel not maybe what we want to hear but I think you know battery mod is so so depressed right now but good to remember that this can be a a good time to enter the sector if you choose to go in at the at the bottom I mean you know you got by the dip that's the idea that's the idea okay so that that gives us a good look at what happened over at The Benchmark event we had you come back over here and we spent a little bit of time finally exploring the show floor this afternoon

which I thought was it's always it's always great to go down there absolutely would you want to talk about what we saw down there some of the things that stood out oh yeah uh there was you know many companies on display and there was also quite a few um quite a few service companies also on display so um it's always a great mix of you know the companies that do the mining and the companies that do the drilling and the services so pdac always does a really good Showcase of that and there is even

um some silver and gold to purchase yes yes we will show where can we see this yeah our coin I don't I don't think you can probably see this but it's a first Majestic year of the snake coin so that was that was fun to go I always love to bring a prop and and take a look at what's down there and I think it's really cool that like first Majestic is sort of doing this like mind to customer pipeline right so you know if you're looking for you know silver coins you know exactly where to go and where

they're coming from yes yes and and if if the people that we've been talking to here or correct a strong outlook for silver I know it's a frustrating metal for many investors as we wait for it to break out of of this range but yeah I heard from a number of people today that it's coming we just we just of course need to continue being patient absolutely and you had a busy day of interviews another busy day of interviews who are you talking to today yeah it was another busy day and we had

we had a good crew of people come through today so we did have some commentary on the silver side we had Peter Kut sharing his his outlook for silver if I'm remembering correctly he thinks it's going to get to 35 $5 mid year then perhaps proceeding upward to 40 in the second half of the year so we'll we'll see if that happens is also talking about you know yesterday we were talking about the flow of gold from London to New York and Peter weighed in and reminded us that's happening with

silver too so he shared some some good thoughts on silver in that regard again I have to tell you there there's a lot of gold and many similar themes to yesterday but I love asking about similar questions to each person so then he can get the the lineup of different responses so a good a good array and of course we had Jeffrey Christian sharing some of his thoughts which are they tend to go against the grain so it's always a fun one to hear from him right I really look forward to those interviews yeah and for the

uranium people there is there is one uranium person on the line that we heard from per jander for the first time so that was an interesting one for he's got a pretty I think unique perspective on the market and we did a pretty in the time we had available because these are always short shorter interviews than as we do online but in the time we had available I think a good run through of price Supply demand so can look forward to that one coming out absolutely Pier um had a really great presentation

yesterday so I look forward to hearing more of his thoughts in your interview good good good all right I think I think that sums up our day did you have anything else that you would highlight just the Llama oh my goodness I forgot the llama and hopefully maybe we can insert a picture of the Llama visitor here at our at our very own booth yeah we'll put a picture in of the Llama so that everybody can see it how could I forget yeah I think that's a I think that's a good summary of day two very

good okay well this was this was day two videos are coming out content on PC is coming out so thank you everybody for following along thank you Georgia for the update and we'll see you tomorrow [Music]
