Elon Musk is extremely worried about silver. And it's not merely the reality that its prices have climbed to a historic high of nearly $80 per ounce. There is something else far more significant. Let's discuss it as we dive in. Elon Musk has made his most direct post yet about silver just hours ago. And this is quite fascinating regarding what he's replying to over on the Xplatform. Well, the initial post is from Bull Theory. I'm going to explain how this post discusses prices surging because of a
serious global supply shortage. That's right. Enormous increases in demand for silver and the understanding that there isn't enough silver available to satisfy those industrial demands is a major issue and it has been a major issue for several years now. But at this moment, it is essentially being magnified in the markets and that's one of the reasons it's trading at such elevated levels. So silver a remarkable metal indeed but it is largely an industrial metal even with this rise in price. I believe it is
behaving more like an industrial metal in a sense rather than a monetary metal in terms of its price action because bull theory states here exploding due to a severe global supply shortage. The physical market can no longer satisfy rising demand. And then another post by Jesse Pelton states, "This is a bigger issue than it may appear because starting January the 1st, China will limit silver exports. To export silver, companies will now require government permits." But Elon Musk responded to that by saying, "This
is not good. Silver is required in many industrial processes. So it's not just for industrial products. It's required for the processes themselves. And if anyone would know, it would be Elon Musk. That's for certain, as it's essential to everything he does from the Cybertruck to Starship to everything else that he has worked to create, including the Xplatform itself and the servers and related infrastructure behind it. So, there are worries about China's new silver export licensing regulations that
will take effect on January the 1st, which restrict shipments to large state approved firms and could tighten global supply. Now, as China produces 60 to 70% of the world's silver, the thing is I believe that, you know, when you examine all of the products that are manufactured in China, that would make sense. But most silver is mined out of Mexico and Peru. And this channel, the one you're watching right now, a human channel, by the way, has certainly covered that subject as well because China has been
importing unrefined silver from Peru and Mexico for quite some time now. And I covered it on this channel. Welcome to Gold Silver News, your go-to destination for all things economics and finance. We know that silver's role in industrial applications like EV batteries which are vital for things like the cybert truck and other EV vehicles, solar panels, the photovoltaics involved there with about 20G per solar panel and electronics crucial for Tesla and SpaceX obviously face risk from the 2025 global deficit of 230 million ounces with inventory levels at multi-year lows. And so it is part of what has pushed silver prices to
soar recently. And this is what is prompting people to really assess what's happening. Of course, in the comment section, people are saying, "Hey, maybe you should buy a silver mine. They offer value." But fortunately, he has likely done that. I'm sure he has the foresight. He probably has interest in silver mining. And by the way, silver is primarily mined as a byproduct of other metals. And so it makes it difficult to find a primary silver miner, but copper is needed as well.
So more than likely Elon Musk has either invested in, has an interest in, or may even be an owner of a mine out there. We just don't know. I would assume something that large he would have to disclose. But, you know, there are probably ways to conceal it as well through LLC's and similar structures. And so when you think about what's happening here, the fact that Elon Musk made this post is quite critical. And he's openly stating how vital silver is. And the post has received two
3 million views so far. And of course, it did receive responses from industry leaders like Josh Feifer from Scottsdale, who says it's as if the global market has recognized the importance of a necessary commodity that has been running a supply deficit not just for one year, but for literally five consecutive years, and we're about to enter our sixth year very soon. So, it's quite remarkable. Now, someone else had posted a meme that Elon Musk had shared at one point, another image that I discussed. So Elon
Musk understands how important silver is not only for industry but also as a monetary metal as a hedge against economic instability and similar concerns. And this meme shows the different stages of money. Sound money. The first is a silver dollar. The second is a currency backed by silver and a silver certificate. Then fiat currency. And then we are between fiat currency and hyperinflation. And there's an arrow pointing between a standard Federal Reserve note and a Zimbabwean $50 million note showing that
transition. And the fifth stage is bullets. That's right. You've heard the saying, you can stack silver, but also stack copper jacketed lead as well. So, that was one of the responses, but there were many responses beneath it. And it just demonstrates that it's out in the open now and people are starting to take notice to the point where even Elon Musk is openly posting about how important silver is. Of course, we all know that he already understands this, but he's drawing more attention to it and he felt
the need to respond. So, it's very interesting indeed to see how this is going to unfold. What will happen on January the 1st as these new rules take effect from China? I don't believe it's going to be that significant of an issue. Why? Because even though they may not be exporting silver in raw or bar form, they handle most of the production of the goods and services that use silver anyway. Now, Elon Musk is probably not purchasing silver from China. That's my guess, but who knows? I don't know how
much they produce, but they are a major producer of silver. There's no question. But there is a lot in Mexico, the most in Mexico. They are the largest silver mining nation in the world. I mean, China is up there as well. So clearly, it is a major issue, but there will likely be alternative sources, though it will probably help restrict supplies to some degree. So there is that concern, but I think the market will respond and the industry will respond as well to try to find alternative sourcing methods.
But remember, China produces most of the items that use silver, hands down. And so it's being exported anyway, just in the form of finished goods and services. So I don't know how that will play out because much of those items will need to be recycled. Recycling, I believe, will be a major focus in 2026 with prices where they are now. That's not being discussed enough. But remember, the industry will attempt to recover as much silver as possible whenever and however they can as quickly
as possible to meet demand for goods and services. I think 2026 will be a very critical year. Even if prices pull back somewhat and this bull market begins to level out or retrace to a new support level for silver and what that landscape will look like after this bull run, the game has permanently changed for silver. There's no doubt about it. Elon Musk understands this as prices have risen and he is very likely positioning himself and his companies to secure silver through multiple channels.
My assumption is that when he responded to that post hours ago, he probably already knew this or people within his companies already knew and had already worked to reposition resources and allocate silver products or raw unrefined silver to support the needs of his businesses. We'll see how that unfolds. But regardless, this is a significant development. The fact that it's being discussed at all highlights that we are in a very unusual period for silver in more ways than one with many reasons behind why
prices have surged. Very compelling. Let me know what your thoughts are in the comments below about what Elon Musk has stated here.
