[Music] welcome to CEO insights I'm Marilyn Guzman with investing news.com my guest this episode is Rob zakreski the president and CEO of silakan energy an oil and natural gas exploration and development company in British Columbia hello Rob hello how are you doing today good so let's start our conversation with just an introduction about silicat energy what are the key things that You' like investors to know about the company well cican a new company that has been in operation only since June 2022 and has a

very small market cap of about $400 million what is not new though is the management team which has been around since 1993 where we established and created Sher value in six prior companies and now we're looking to move this one forward what is not small is the mon which is the the area that we're in in Northeast BC and CA count has a large position within that that giant resource you know and frankly you know the name set the namesake of cant celant is a fish that's been around for 400

million years and has the ability to it's thrived and survived over a long period of time and you know and frankly epitomizes what what the management team's gone through over the last 30 years and you mentioned montney the monney region earlier so maybe this is a time to discuss uh you know provide us some overview of the monney region why is that significant for the oil and gas industry well along with the peran the m is considered one of the greatest resources in North America it's 400

miles long 120 miles wide and about a th feet thick so it's truly an immense oil and gas resource and Tech technology has turned this resource into one of Canada's largest extractable resources and realistically it's still only in the first couple endings of its development so it's going to be a dramatic resource development for Canada you know when we combine the monney which is in Northeast BC and parts of Alberta um with LG Canada we're gonna have the ability to take our resource offshore and be able

to you know provide energy to the world through natural gas offshore as well and you know uh operationally speaking maybe you could also talk about some of the significant advantages for companies such as yourself that's operating that region um you know and like the in terms of policies and and the jurisdictions that you're operating in for sure so we're in Northeast British Columbia um and our assets predominantly flow to down through BC and they can flow the West Coast or they can flow

into Alberta as well the advantag is operationally other than from an e perspective where we can access various markets are the fact that we are accessing the resource with large pads so we'll have say 20 wells in a pad we'll be drilling out horizontally subsurface over two miles and so we'll have a very small surface imprint but a very large downhole footprint to access the resource now it's also given that it's fairly new it's also a Greenfield project so you're using state-of-the-art

technology not only on the extraction side of it but on the facility side on the pipeline side so we will have you know very safe operations but also we'll be minimizing uh the we'll be minimizing the emissions coming off of the project itself this might be a a good time to talk about your assets could you provide a brief overview of those assets in terms of its location and the geology sure so we are in Northeast British Columbia in around the Fort St John Dawson Creek area we have a large

land position about 150 sections of a contiguous block of mly land it's geologically uh delineated already so there's multiple penetrations that have gone through in Prior years so we understand the geology it and then in the last year we've been able to start the pad development so we're also understanding the multiples of zones that are in the area and then how are we going to extract from there um we've estimated that under our land there's over 11 billion barrels of oil in place

there's like 10 trillion cubic feet of gas in place and we've just started um understanding it so we have now shown two of the four Mony benches to be productive we'll be working on a third here soon and the and the plan for the asset is really to to build it out from the current base very small we're only a th barrels of day right now we have about 10,000 barrels a day you know behind pipe right now and we're building infrastructure T kind of to get that to Market so we are truly are a small fish

at less than a thousand barrels a day right now but we are from a land perspective we're top one of the top 10 companies in mney Holdings in Northeast BC and within the oil window of the mney we're actually the largest landh holder so interesting so what are the plans for 2025 so we as mentioned we do have some pad Wells that are sitting there so we have over 10,000 barrels a day sitting there waiting to be tied in we're currently constructing a facility and pipeline so we have about an $80 million

infrastructure spent to connect those Wells and then through 2025 we're going to be drilling WS to fill that facilities over time so we have about another another eight Wells that we plan to drill in 2025 tie the wells in and call it late April that 10,000 probably be a stable 67,000 continue to add Wells we have an exit Target of over 10,000 bue a day for uh 2025 and then we'll just continue to build on that as time progresses more infrastructure more Wells it's truly you know a development

plan that you can go at whatever Pace you want because of the nature of how large it is if if you're speaking to an investor today what would you tell them like why is now the time to invest in silan well we've developed this resource since 2008 when we first understanding it as a management team so we stepped into this asset as a spin-off of a prior entity called Lata so we understood everything that we needed to know technically we financially short of the balance sheet we raised $80 million last

year and we drisk the project so we're just at the initial phase of that massive growth profile we know where we're going from a th000 bue today to over 10,000 by the end of next year and ultimately we think the resource is you know sustained at 40 50 60,000 be a day so from an investor perspective you're truly at the ground floor and we believe we're going to be able to create significant value over the next you know three to five years we'll leave it at that thanks again Rob for taking the
